The son of the late clifton and Evelyn Bernard Ackert, he was born Sept 9, 1921, in Walden.
Mr. Ackert was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Montgomery; the Wallkill Lodge No. 427, Free and Accepted Masons, Walden; and the Montgomery American Legion.
He was also a life member of the Montgomery Fire Department, and an Army-Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Crane Ackert at home; two sons, Lawrence Ackert of Glen Elyn, Ill., and Andrew Ackert of Manlius; one granddaughter; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service was held Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, Montgomery. The Rev. Dennis J VanWyk officiated.
Cremation will be in Cedar Hill Crematory in Newburgh.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery Fire Department.
