OBITUARY:
Born May 15, 1921, and passed away on February 11, 2008.

Alta was born at home in a small town in Michigan to Samuel and Frieda Groff. She was raised in Akron, Ohio, and graduated with high honors with a degree in biology from Andrews University. She then received a degree in nursing from Loma Linda University and then taught pre-med and nursing students.

While at Loma Linda, she met the love of her life, Glen Axford, a physician. They moved to Pasco, Washington in 1951 where they raised a family and started a very busy and successful medical practice. They worked together for 40 years.

During that time, Alta was very involved in civic, school and church activities. Alta was brilliant, thoughtful and very generous with her time and money. She was well respected and loved for her high level of integrity, intelligence, leadership and deep spiritual values. She had many talents and passions, which included photography, camping, nature, reading and travel.

She is survived by her 3 children, Paul, Cheryl and Judy, and 5 grandchildren. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at the Riverview Seventh-day Adventist Church, Rd. 36 & Sylvester in Pasco. Interment will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick. Viewing will be Friday at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home 1608 W. Court St. in Pasco.
