Longtime Strongs resident, Allan R. Morningstar, 88, died Wednesday evening November 30, 2016 at Golden Leaves Living Center in Newberry.

Born August 31, 1928 in Strongs, son of the late Dwight and Blanche (McFall) Morningstar, Allan was formerly employed as a truck driver for I.L. Whitehead and Company in Sault Ste. Marie. He later was a self-employed woodsman and also contracted by Chippewa County for lawn and roadside maintenance until his retirement. Allan enjoyed reading, gardening, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Allan is preceded in death by his siblings Irene Drews, Lila Rojo, Elsie Van Dyke, Floyd Morningstar, Boyd Morningstar, Betty Lawless and Gene Morningstar; son-in-law Pete Kabelman.

Survivors include his loving wife, the former Louise Mills of Strongs, whom he married February 11, 1956 in Strongs; children Sheryl Kabelman of Strongs, Netha Morningstar of Sault Ste. Marie, Dwight (Terry) Morningstar of Addison, Susan (Terry) Carrick and Millie (Levi) Carrick all of Brimley; 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; several brother and sister-in-law’s, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Strongs Community Bible Church on Saturday December 3, 2016 from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon at the church with Darrell Hopper presiding. Interment will follow at Coburn Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Golden Leaves Living Center in his memory.
