Our beloved mother has returned home to a joyful reunion with her heavenly family.

The daughter of Hoyt William and Naomi Smith Brewster, she also loved learning from one of God's servants, Grandpa Joseph Fielding Smith.

She said she knew she was home the first time she danced with her husband, Donn R. Amott. They married in the Salt Lake Temple and together raised six children. He preceded her in death in 1990.

She taught at the Polk Elementary, Lakeridge Elementary, and Hillside Intermediate schools and was an extraordinary teacher. She considered teaching a privilege and a sacred experience. Her primary lesson was always "Solve your problem but when you need help I'm available." Her curiosity was insatiable.

She loved Christmas and was known for the many trees she kept throughout her home. She loved the Savior, his Gospel, and the scriptures and had a profound testimony which she readily sought to share with everyone she met.

She is survived by her children, Steven (Camille) Amott, Jeff (Nina) Amott, Elizabeth (William) Betenson, Kelly (Lisa) Amott, Russ (Danika) Amott, and Kent (Caylee) Amott. She had twenty-one grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Foothill First Ward Chapel, 1930 South 2100 East. A viewing will be held at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and prior to the services on Tuesday from 9:30-10:45 a.m.
