Obituary

WEST POINT, Ill. -- Bonnie Jean Allen, 76, of West Point, passed away at 8:25 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, at her home.

Bonnie was born March 14, 1940, in Carthage, a daughter of Sherman Andrew and Mary Roberta (McTee) Vance. She graduated from Carthage High School in 1958. On Nov. 13, 1960, she was united in marriage to Francis Allen in West Point.

Bonnie was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Augusta and a member of the women's group and choir. Bonnie was an excellent singer and performed at the Frankfurt (Mo.) Opry in the 1970s. She also sang for weddings and funerals for many years. She was a member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and made quilts for hospital auctions. She enjoyed quilt making and sewing. She also enjoyed baking and supplied wedding and birthday cakes for many area events. Bonnie was an excellent farm wife and gardener, and provided canned goods for her family for many years.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Francis L. Allen; three children, Teresa Lynn "Terri" (Tim) Snodgrass of Colchester, Ronald Wayne "Ron" (Elizabeth) Allen of Huntsville, Ala., and Debra Jo "Deb" (Jeff) Bozarth of West Point; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert A. (Diana) Vance of Kentucky, Dr. William McTee (Pamela) Vance of Sedalia, Mo., and Jeffrey (Laurie) Vance of Grand Rapids, Mich.; one sister, Connie Jo (Royce Schierding) Marshall of St. Charles, Mo.; a brother-in-law, Kevin Rund of Lexington, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Dale Vance, who was killed in Vietnam in 1968 at age 19; and one sister, Judy Rund.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Printy Funeral Home. Burial will follow in West Point Cemetery.

VISITATION: 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, with family present 5 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Augusta Assembly of God Church, Unity Point Hospice or the Gideons.

ARRANGEMENTS: Printy Funeral Home, Carthage.
