Ruth married William John Mathews on January 2, 1899 in Heber City, Utah. They became parents to eight children: Ruth Delora, William Leonard, Frank Sherman, Ray Sidney, Ethel Virginia, Elizabeth Virginia, Bert George, and Dean Epperson. William died in 1927.
Ruth married James MacNaughtan after 1930. He died in 1940.
According to her death certificate, Ruth died of stomach cancer and congestive heart failure at age 77.
