Johnnie Junior Blevins, age 90, died Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Veteran’s Center in Claremore, Oklahoma after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born October 18, 1926 in Oglesby to Phillip Blevins and Laura (Atterberry) Blevins. He attended school in Oglesby through ninth grade and later received an honorary diploma from Caney Valley High School. He was a long time resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Johnnie married Geraldine Oliver February 3, 1945. He was then quickly drafted into the U.S. Navy to fight for our country in World War II. Upon his discharge in 1946 he began his professional career. In his early professional years he was employed by National Zinc in the furnace maintenance department. He continued his education to receive a plumber’s license. Upon receiving his license he joined Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 430. He started Blevins Plumbing shortly after receiving his license. He later branched out into homebuilding until his retirement. Johnnie did not cease to be active in his years of retirement. To compliment his military service he was a member of Dewey VFW Post 10099 and was often seen in their color guard. Before he became a resident of the Veteran’s Center he volunteered to serve veterans there. He also held membership at the Bartlesville Eagle’s Lodge and the 55 Plus Activity Center where he loved to dance and socialize. On the list of his retirement activities one could also find his volunteer service at the Salvation Army. Johnnie is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Frank and Louise Inda of Dewey as well as his son and daughter-in-law William (Bill) and Beverly Blevins of Bartlesville; as well as three grandchildren: Tiffany (Inda) Holmes, Megan (Blevins) Calhoun, and Michael Blevins. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Geraldine Blevins. Mr. Johnnie Blevins will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery in a graveside service to be held 2 pm, Thursday, December 1, 2016. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Agape Mission or the 55 Plus Activity Center both located in Bartlesville
