Mary Eliason of Emerald died Monday, March 24 at her home after a 23-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis and the last months with cancer.
Mary was born Feb. 1, 1938 in St. Paul, Minn. to Lyman and Marcella (MacNamara) Arnquist. She graduated from Glenwood City High School and attended the College of St. Catherine, William and Mary, and the University of Minnesota, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in March of 1960. She worked at several local hospitals and nursing homes before retiring in 1997.
She was married to Don Eliason Feb. 23, 1963 in Glenwood City and lived on the family farm until her death. She enjoyed wildflowers, genealogy, antiques, Tiger Band Boosters, Nature's Pantry, and volunteering at the Heritage Center in New Richmond.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother John.
Mary is survived by her husband Don, children, Barbara (Paul) Durand of Osceola and Mark (Heidi) Eliason of Baldwin and two grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Johns Catholic Church in Glenwood City Friday with Father Murphy and Father Trinka officiating. Music will be provided by Garrett Mulrooney. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 27 from 5-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Cullen Crea Hegstrom Funeral Home in New Richmond and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Emerald. Pallbearers will be Garrett Mulrooney, John Mulrooney, Louie Hastert, Roger Dickhausen, Doug Otto, and Jim Eliason, Jr.
