John Childs Greenwood, 84, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at a local healthcare center.
John was born Feb. 24, 1932, in Tulsa, Okla., to parents, John Hobbs Greenwood and Gertha Francis. They moved to Fort Worth in 1933. He worked at Mrs. Baird's Bakeries for 43 years, including two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
John married his wife, Edith Webster, while he was in the Army in May 1953. He returned to Mrs. Baird's Bakeries and in 1961 he was sent to Waco as production superintendent. Then, in 1969 he returned to Fort Worth as production superintendent at the new cake plant.
In 1982, he became general manager of the bread plant. In 1984, he was sent to the Abilene Bakery as general manager. He came back to Fort Worth in 1992 to the corporate office. John retired in 1994. He loved his family, fishing, cooking and his yard.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Gertha; and brothers, Roy, Harding and Bill Main.
Survivors: Wife, Edith Greenwood; son and daughter-in-law, Keith Greenwood and wife, Marianne; daughters, Sandra Davis, Katrina Jones; son, John Greenwood; thirteen grandchildren; seven grandchildren-in-law; 12 great-grandchildren; six nieces; and one nephew.
