ROME CITY--- Mary Jane Matthews, 64, of Route 1, Rome City, died at 12:45 p.m. Monday at her residence. She had been in ill health five years.
Born April 15, 1922 in Ambia, she was the daughter of Alvin and Hazel (Suites) Burtron. In Springfield, Tenn. on Aug. 8, 1962, she married J. Ernest Matthews, who survives. Mrs. Matthews moved from Kendallville to Rome City 12 years ago.
Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Lynda Morris of Greentown; a son, James Young of Rome City; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
One grandchild, five great-grandchildren and one brother preceded her in death.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Hutchins Funeral Home, Wolcottville, with Rev. Carl Ritchie Officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until services on Wednesday.
