He is also survived by one son, Steven (wife, Karyn) Strickler of Thomson, Georgia;two daughters, Madonna (husband, Larry) Hymes of Neoga and Doris Strickler of Jacksonville;5 grandchildren, Cindy Thompson, Clint Hymes, Tiffany Strickler, Matthew Strickler and Gregory Strickler; two step-grandchildren, Amy McCord and Ashley Dent; 3 great-grandchildren, Brandon Thompson, Brooke Thompson and Ashley Hymes; 3 step-great-grandchildren, Addison McCord, Hayden McCord and Ethan Dent;one brother, Harold (wife, Juanita) Strickler of Arenzville and one sister, Esther Newby of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Strickler and Robert (surviving wife, Mary of Jacksonville) Strickler and one sister, Frances Berniece "Shorty" (surviving husband, Bob of Jacksonville) Drake.
Mr. Strickler served in the United States Army for 4 years. He retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Chapin Christian Church and a fifty year member of Harmony Lodge #3 A.F. & A.M. in Jacksonville. He loved spending time with his family, going to Hardees every morning for coffee and repairing old bicycles.
Services were entrusted to Williamson Funeral Home of Jacksonville, Illinois.
