David Monroe Andrews, 70, passed away on Feb. 13, 2012, at home in St. Augustine after a long battle with multiple melanoma.
David was born in Fleming County, Ky., the youngest of five siblings, to David Wilson Andrews and Katherine Dudley Andrews.

His family moved to Winter Park, Fla., when he was 2 and he spent his youth fishing the lakes and coasts of central Florida. After graduating from Winter Park High School, he went to Centre College in Danville, Ky., where he met his future bride and love of his life, Judy Dean Andrews.

After graduation in 1963, he married Judy and entered the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Warner Robbins, Ga., and Anchorage, Alaska.
After six years of service and achieving the rank of captain, David entered Stetson Law School and upon graduation in 1972, joined the law firm of Sheppard & Woolslair in Ft. Myers, Fla. During his 15 years in Ft. Myers, he served as the president of the Nature Center, and as the head of youth groups for Wesleyan Methodist Church and Covenant Presbyterian Church.

He moved to St. Augustine, Fla., in 1991 and opened a law practice.
David had a great sense of humor with a dry wit and a ready smile. He loved the outdoors and liked nothing better than fishing on the waters of Florida.
He will be greatly missed by those who survive him: Judy, his wife of 48 years;
son David; daughter-in-law Joanie; and grandchildren, Sarah, Catherine, and David of Houston, Texas;
daughter, Katherine of University Park, Md.;
sister, Winder Witherell of Mt. Dora;
brother, Lake Andrews of Nunnelly, Tenn.;
sister, Kathy Dickson of Steinhatchee, Fla.; sister, Ada Haines of Dunnellon, Fla.; and numerous nephews and nieces.
