He was born in St. Augustine and lived most of his life in the area.
He was a veteran of the Korean War who served in the U.S. Army.
He worked for many years as a brick and stone mason for many different contractors in St. Johns County.
Survivors: His wife, Bettie Andreu, of St. Augustine; a daughter, Rosemary Goodge, of Orlando; sons John Mayer of Indiana, and Paul Mayer and James Michael Mayer, both of Palatka; and 12 grandchildren.
