Mr. Dwain Cox, age 84, of Dallas-Selfville, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016. He was born June 26, 1932 in Chambers County, AL delivered by a blind doctor (Dr. Thomas Clack) whose wife drove the horse and buggy to the house and served as his assistant. Graduated from Lafayette High School in 1950. Served in the U.S. Navy Jan. 1951 till Sept. 1954 with two tours of duty in Korea. After discharge, he attended Auburn University (then API) graduating March 1958. He retired from Altec Industries as Sr. V.P. and General Manager Southern Division.
Dwain was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Leslie Anne Moody Cox; parents, Cecil Cox and Avie Lou Moore Cox; and sister-in-law, Nadine Sharpe Cox (Jerry). He is survived by his son, Cecil Cox; daughters, Rhonda Cox and Mamie Hallmark (Tommy); grandsons, Joey Rickard and Jake Hallmark; granddaughter, Katie Hallmark; and brothers, Dan Cox (Deanna) and Jerry Cox.
Dwain was a member of Pinson United Methodist Church, V.F.W., American Legion, Masonic Lodge and Big Swamp Conservation Club. A beloved father and grandfather, he was an avid Auburn sports fan. The family gives special thanks to his caregivers, Bluebird Home Care, Dr. Angela Rothrock, Tamela Lindsay and Lukeisha Quinn, also Gentiva Hospice Nurse, Belinda Rollins. His family will receive friends on Monday, November 28, 2016 from 12:30-2 at Pinson United Methodist Church with his service beginning at 2 PM with Rev. Baxter Chisum officiating. Burial will follow at Marvin's Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pinson United Methodist Church or American Parkinson's Disease Association at apdaparkinson.org.
