Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at Cedar Grove Cemetery for Grace "Cissy" Cranford Beard, 60, of Columbia, who died on Friday, Nov. 25, in Columbia. Bro. Reuben McDowell and Bro. Todd Sumrall officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, at Colonial Funeral Home.
A native of Columbia, she was a graduate of Delta State University and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She taught at Jefferson Middle School in special education and retired after 28 years. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where she formerly served as music director.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Beard, and parents, Ralph Sr. and Billie Jean Cranford.
Survivors include her daughters, Joni Mills (Kenneth) of Columbia and Jeni Hammond of Hattiesburg; brother, Ralph Cranford Jr. of Birmingham, Ala.; grandchildren, Skylar Grace Hammond and Bryce Anthony Hammond, and her niece and nephews.
