Homegoing services for Phyllis Jean Agers Wells, 71, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Corinth Baptist Church with Reverend Abraham Walton officiating. Interment will follow at Clearview Cemetery.

The family will host a wake Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.

Phyllis Jean Agers Wells was born December 22, 1944 at Ardmore, Oklahoma to Stanley U. Agers and Johnnie Pearl (Gentry) Agers, to this union nine children were born. Phyllis departed this life to her heavenly home, November 18, 2016.

Phyllis was an extremely outgoing person who lived her life to the fullest. Her accolades and community service actions are many; here are just a few honorable mentions. Majorette for Douglass High School of Ardmore where she was also a part of the dance program and participated in numerous talent shows. She graduated at the age of 16 with a 4.0, and then attended Langston University, where she majored in Chemistry. Upon completion at Langston, she accepted a job at Dmac in St. Louis, MO.

While in St. Louis she met and married C.D. Wells, they were the parents of a son, Carlos D. Wells. Following that marriage, Phyllis moved back to Ardmore where she was a substitute teacher and later was employed at Department of Human Services of Ardmore. Phyllis loved helping people and was extremely involved in various community and church programs. She retired after 27 years with DHS and continued to serve her church of 30 plus years and participated in events until failing health prevailed. Playing the piano and singing were her passions, and she did it without reservation.

Phyllis leaves to forever cherish her memories, her only son, Carlos D. Wells, Sr. and wife Trish; grandsons, Carlos Wells, Jr., Jacob Morales and Calloushus Anderson; sisters, JoAnn Bratcher and husband, Frank, Jeanette Hutchinson, Virginia Perry and husband, Kenneth and Roberta Beaird . Also her beloved church Corinth Baptist and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family, including sister-in-law, LouVon Agers. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Evelyn Hornbeak; brothers, Stanley U. Agers II., Donald Ward Agers, and Raymond Dale Agers.
