Born in Saint Cuthberts, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. Parents were John Watson & Helen Clerk according to the Scotland, Select Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950.

Mr. David Watson was born in Scotland and migrated to North Carolina prior to the American Revolutionary War. He married Mary 'Beddie' Hamby, April 3, 1784 in Wake county, North Carolina.

David Watson served in the North Carolina Militia during the American Revolutionary War. According to a book written in 1921 entitled: History of Watauga County, North Carolina, the British were chasing David Watson to kill him. The legs of the horses ridden by the British were short. David Watson's horse had long legs and jumped across a huge ditch. The horses of the British could not jump it and such saved the life of David Watson.
