Virginia Botkins Grogan, 86, widow of Lynn E. Grogan Jr., passed away at Wesley Village in Wilmore KY on November 22, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, her mother Eunice Botkins, her father Everett Boone Botkins, and her brother John Botkins.She worked as bookkeeper at Lexington’s First Security Bank, part-time for many years at Grogan’s Healthcare Supply, and was a beloved homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was raised on Greentree Farm in Lexington where her father was a farm manager, graduated from Lafayette High in 1948 and married Lynn later that summer. She was active for many years at Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church and later at Meadowthorpe Presbyterian. She enjoyed travel, antiquing and fishing with her husband, and became accomplished in painting, quilting, sewing, basket-making, stained glass, and miniatures. She loved animals and supported many welfare groups including the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee.She is survived by two sons, Alan (Susan) Grogan of Nicholasville and Dan (Mariann Michels) Grogan of Harwood MD; four grandchildren, Allison (Evan) Buckley and Ross Grogan of Lexington, Alex Grogan and Sabrina Grogan of Harwood, MD; two great-grandchildren Willa Buckley and Brandon Catlett; one sister, Doris Muntz of Dayton OH; a sister-in-law, Gaile (Charles) Humston of Lawrenceburg; and many beloved nieces and nephews.“Jenky” was admired and loved as “Gram”, and set examples for all in the family with her generosity and thoughtfulness.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3-6 pm at Milward – Southland. Services will be 11 am Monday at Milward – Southland.
