Arthur Carlton Motsinger, III July 8, 1948 - Nov. 14, 2012 Mr. Arthur Carlton Motsinger, III, 64, died Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at his residence. He was born to A. C. Motsinger and the late Rosie Motsinger on July 8, 1948 in Winston-Salem, NC. Carlton attended Old Town Elementary and Dalton Junior High School before graduating from R. J. Reynolds High School in 1966. Throughout high school he worked at Ed Kelly's Appliance Store, assisting with service and delivery calls. During the start of his college career, Carlton attended Virginia Tech where he studied Business while serving as a member of the Corps of Cadets. His studies were interrupted by his participation in the Viet Nam War. Initially he served with the Navy at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Then he served on the USS Newport News, surviving a large explosion off the coast of Viet Nam in October, 1972. He resumed his studies at Virginia Tech and subsequently worked for Reynolds and Reynolds as a computer supplies representative. Then he resumed his education, attending Wake Forest University and receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1985. In May of 1988, he received a Masters of Divinity Degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Finally, in May, 1993, he received a Master's degree from Columbia University in Public Administration and in Social Work. He returned to North Carolina where he worked asa counselor at Camp Butner and later worked at High Point Regional Hospital. Throughout his academic and working career, Carlton loved playing various sports. He especially enjoyed many hours of intramural and playground basketball. Carlton and his parents were some of the most outgoing, friendly, and energetic people you would ever meet. He never meta stranger and was always willing to help anyone. His positive attitude was infectious. All of his friends were like brothers to him and his family.
