Fred John Ashcroft was born at Rosita, Colorado on September 4, 1885. The early part of his life was spent at Westcllffe, Colorado, from which place he came to Salida, where he had resided until the- time of his death Sunday evening, August 3. He was married to Nellie May Cryder October 7, 1914. To this union were born two children. Helen Mae, and Thelma Nellie, both of whom survive, Mrs. Ashcroft having died during the influenza epidemic in 1918. He is also survived by three brothers, James, Robert, and Frank Ashcroft, four half sisters and three half brothers, all residents of other cities except Paul Merten, who is a resident of this city. He was laid to rest beside his wile in Fairview cemetery.
