Agnes "Aggie" Burgie, age 94, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016. Aggie was born in Ft. Recovery, Ohio on May 3, 1922, one of eight children of Harold and Frances (Phillips) Anthony. On June 10, 1950 she married Joseph J. Burgie who preceded her in death in 1992. Her family includes three sons and two daughters, seven grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. David and Marilyn (Winchell) Burgie of Midland, MI; Virginia and Richard Barber of Portage, MI; Richard and Jackie (Molaski) Burgie of Millersburg, MI; Don E. Burgie of Delton, MI; Frances and Wm. Michael Bean of Delton, MI; and Kathy (Peters) Burgie of Midland, MI; and Mimi Zuchowski of Littleton, CO. Aggie was employed as secretary to the Vice President of Student Affairs at Notre Dame University, where she met her husband. After moving to Kalamazoo she volunteered at the Legal Aid Bureau and was later employed there for 22 years. She was also a member of the Kalamazoo Lawyers Auxiliary. She was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church for many years and most recently St. Augustine Cathedral. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. Friends may visit with the family from 2 4 & 6 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 27th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., where a Rosary service will take place at 7 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 28th at St. Augustine Cathedral, with Rev. Francis Marotti, celebrant. Interment will take place at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 28th in Battle Creek Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kalamazoo Gospel Mission or Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes.
