George T. Kondor, 89, of Poughkeepsie, died Friday, December 17, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Scalplevel, PA. on October 14, 1921, he was the son of the late Michael J. Kondor Sr. and Elizabeth Rist. Mr. Kondor operated several gas stations in Hyde Park. He also was the proprietor of Hyde Park Sporting Goods Store and later worked for Intertype Corp. in Hyde Park and retired from the Spackenkill School District as head custodian after 20 years of service. George was also a volunteer fireman for Booth Hose Co,. in Poughkeepsie. He was a creative individual who came up with unique ideas like his "Rock and Rollover Sleigh." George is survived by his sister, Margaret M. Kondor of Poughkeepsie; his brother Stephen P. Kondor of Connell, NY; and numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters; Michael J. Kondor, Elizabeth Bracone, Helen Pizzarelli, Joseph Kondor, William Kondor and Louis Kondor. Visitation will be Sunday 1 to 4 pm at Parmele-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday 10 am from Church of the Holy Trinity, 775 Main St., Poughkeepsie. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
