Delma Kathleen Johnston 91 of Clearfield passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.

She was born on July 20, 1925 in Irvona, PA the daughter of the late Charles and Emma (Howell) Thompson. On October 14, 1942 she married Walter Johnston who passed away on July 17, 2013.

Delma was a homemaker and had retired from her Beauty Salon.

She was a member of West Side United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years in kindergarten and adult class 7, was flower steward for 15 years along with many other volunteer functions. She was a former member of Amaranth Lodge, SPCA, Hobby Garden Club, Susquehanna Chapter DAR, Mt Laurel Auxilary, Disabled Veterans Women's Auxiliary, AARP and Bradford Grange.

She was a people person, hat and glove lady and loved writing for all occasions.

Delma is survived by her granddaughter, Chandra D. Gorton and a great granddaughter, Charlee A. Carbaugh both of Clearfield and a brother, Billy Thompson of Ohio. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Patricia Lee Gorton and a son-in-law, Rev. Rodger J. Gorton; five brothers: Maurice, Alfred, Theodore, Jack and an infant brother, Fredrick; and three sisters: Myrtle Richards, Josephine Miller and Emma Henderson.

A funeral service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Dr. Joleen A. Willis officiating. Burial will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park.

Friends will be received 7-9pm on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the funeral home. An additional hour of viewing will be held from 9am until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
