Chatham, Columbia Co., NY
Thursday, 20 September 1951

Funeral services were held today for one of Chatham’s most respected residents, Mrs. Maude Estelle Alvord, who died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Martha Sommer on Monday of this week. Mrs. Alvord was in her 71st years.

Born in Rochester, the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. John Thurber, she was the widow of the late Harry Alvord, Chatham druggist. Mrs. Alvord took an active interest in community affairs during her residence in the village and her passing will be mourned by a wide circle of friends.

Survivors include a son, Henry L. Alvord; two daughters, Mrs. Estelle Tracy and Mrs. Martha Sommer and two grandchildren.

The funeral services were held from St. Luke’s Episcopal Church…. Interment was in Chatham Rural Cemetery. E.B. Gifford & Son of Chatham, had charge of funeral arrangements.
