James 'Durwood Alexander married Mary 'Wandah' Mayben, daughter of Roy and Donah Mayben, on December 25, 1942, in Lampasas. To this union was born a son, James Roy (b. March 22, 1950.
Wandah received her B.S. degree from TWU in Denton and her Master's from Sul Ross University in Alpine. She is a dietician and a school teacher. She has been very active in the Extension Homemakers.
In June, 1952, Durwood and Wandah both had polio. Durwood died and Wandah was confined to a wheelchair. Later, she lived in Lometa.
