He is survived by a daughter, Melita Craine and her husband, Anthony, of Asheville; a son, Steven Ballew and his wife, Michele, of Hendersonville; four sisters, Ruth Penley, Annette Penland, Patricia Allison, and Shirley Scott; two brothers, Anthony and David Ballew; and three grandchildren, Whitney Ballew, Marissa Price, and Josh Taylor.
