Peggy Granneman McBroom, 77, of Huntley, Ill., passed away at Centegra Memorial Hospital, Woodstock, Ill., on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006.

Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church, Chillicothe, on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, at 10 a.m. There will be a scheduled family visitation on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe. Friends may call after noon until 9 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cornerstone Baptist Church of Huntley, Ill., and may be left at the funeral home or be mailed to the Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe.

She was born on Feb. 20, 1929, in Saline County, the daughter of James and Lucille (Hendrickson) Ackelberry. She was a 1946 graduate of Slater High School, Slater. She attended Kansas City Business College, Kansas City, and was a 1949 graduate.

On Jan. 16, 1949, she was married to Harold Granneman in Slater. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1985. On March 18, 1989, she was married to Neal McBroom in Chillicothe. He preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 2000.

She had been a resident of Chillicothe since 1953, moving from Slater. She resided in Chillicothe until 1989, when she moved to California, Mo., until 2001, when she relocated to Huntley, Ill. She worked as a dietary cook for Chillicothe High School for many years. She was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church, Huntley, where she served in the Faith and Action Group. She was a former member of the United Church of Christ, California, where she served in the UCC Women's Guild. She was also a member of the Red Hatters, Huntley. She enjoyed playing cards and dominoes, working with jigsaw puzzles, bocci ball, swimming and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Darren Granneman and wife Kim of McHenry, Ill., and Mark Granneman and wife Nancy of Hoquiam, Wash.; two step-sons, Lanny McBroom of Birmingham, Ala., and Steven McBroom of Jefferson City; one step-daughter, Patty McBroom of Bloomington, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Amy McBroom of Huntsville, Ala.; two sisters, Dorothy Thomas of Grandview and Mary Bowlin of Warsaw; nine grandchildren, Ryan and Lindsay Granneman of McHenry, Ill., Brett, Tess, and Drew Granneman of Hoquiam, Wash., Madison and Caroline McBroom of Huntsville, Ala., and Tyler and Tanner McBroom of Jamestown; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and -nephews.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Davis and Margaret Sublett; and two brothers, Jack and Clem Ackelberry.
