EMMA MAE LAIR, 62, of Ephrata died Saturday at the Columbia Basin hospital. Born on Feb. 14, 1886 in Hannibal, Mo., where she spent her girlhood, she was married to Elmer H. Lair on Oct. 6, 1906 at Shelbyville, Mo. They moved to Ephrata in March, 1908, later moving to Almire, Oroville and Omak (note-these are all small towns in eastern Washington state), before returning to Ephrata 14 years ago. Surviving are her husband, Elmer, one son, Woodrow of Ephrata; two daughters, Mrs. F. F. Boruff and Mrs. H. R. Sherwood, both of Ephrata; two brothers, Mack and John Elwood; both of Hannibal, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Belle Turner of Glendale, Calif.; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held today from the chapel of the Plotts funeral home (note-this funeral home is now Nicoles Funeral Home) with the Rev. Lair Glasscock officiating. Burial was in the Ephrata cemetery.
