Mrs. N. W. Phelps, sixty-two, of 417 Eighth Street, Hickory, died at the home at four a.m. this morning, following a lingering illness.

Funeral services will be conducted at the West Hickory Baptist Church at four o'clock Wednesday afternoon with Rev. R. C. Shearin, Rev. W. W. Marr and Rev. John T. Lackey officiating. Burial will follow in Houck's Chapel Cemetery. The body which will remain at the Hickory Funeral Home until nine o'clock Wednesday morning will lie in state at the church from 3:30 until four o'clock.

Mrs. Phelps, born in Watauga County Nov. 19, 1882, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Adams is survived by her husband, Noah Wilson Phelps; one daughter, Mrs. H. L. Goforth of Hickory; one son, Earl Phelps of Hickory; five brothers, T. C. Adams of Brookford, J. B. Adams of Alta Vista, VA, V. M. Adams and Lee Adams of Hickory, and George Adams of Caldwell County; one half-brother, Spencer Adams of Highland; her step-mother, Mrs. Jesse Adams of Longview; one step-sister, Mrs. W. H. Winebarger of Longview, and four grandchildren, Patricia Ann and Billy Phelps of Hickory, and James and Jerry Goforth, also of Hickory.
