Sam served in the U. S. Army from 1952 until 1973, retiring after 21 years of service and was employed with Ambric Associates Engineering and Soil Consultants Inc. from 1973 until 2003. He was a member of River City Worship Center.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores M. Chappel; his daughter, Carrie B. Dial Watts; five step-children, Donald E. Hartlaub, Ronald R. Hartlaub, Penny L. Liebst, Timothy B. Hartlaub and Terri K. Campbell; ten grandchildren and two loving dogs, Misty and Summer.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M., Monday, November 21, 2016 at River City Worship Center, 291 Hopeman Parkway, Waynesboro 22980, also where a Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 P. M. conducted by The Rev. Dr. Thomas Jammes, Pastor.
Interment, with Military Honors, will be held 11:00 A. M., Tuesday, November 22, 2016 in Quantico National Cemetery
