MANTACHIE – Morris Wade Barber, 76, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at his home. He was born Sept. 20, 1933, the son of Milton and Estelle Spigner Barber. He worked in food brokerage before retirement. He was a member of the Mantachie First Baptist Church and a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed watching football and attending his grandchildren’s baseball and softball games.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Danny Rushing officiating. Burial will be in the Ozark Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Robert Barber (Lori) of the Ratliff community; one daughter, Martha Everitt of Tupelo; one brother, Wayne Barber (Ray) of the Ozark community; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Barber of the Blair community; the mother of his children, Peggy Privette; and six grandchildren, Jessica Everitt, Eric Everitt, Taylor Barber, Jordan Barber, Justin Barber, and Lynsey Barber.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert “Bob” Barber and Jody Barber.

Pallbearers will be Russell Verrell, Charles Hannah, Craig Stephens, Scott Collier, Tom Pitts, Dickie Frazier, Jordan Barber and Justin Barber.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of James Kitchens’ Sunday School Class: Kermit McFerrin, Horace Ray McFerrin, Horace Windell Dulaney, James Kitchens, Gerald Rushing, Tommy Gann, Clifton Cockrell, Billy Joe Raper, and Gene Yielding.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mantachie Junior High Baseball Program, c/o BancorpSouth, 3230 Hwy. 371, Mantachie, MS 38855.
