Son of Robert P. Henderson and Susan Sisk of Massac County, Illinois. He had siblings; William A., Mary F. (Orr), Nancy Ella, Martha Elizabeth, Laura Ellen, Alice D. (Cooley), Almedia C., Abram, Ida Bell, and Harris Henderson. He married Eliza Warfield 30-Jan-1887 in Massac County, IL. He married Martha A. (Emma) Haynes, 18-Nov-1898 in Lauderdale County, TN.

His oldest son, Jasper Newton Henderson, was born to his first marriage with Eliza Warfield. His 4 younger sons; Adolphus (died 1900), Jesse Guy, Arthur (died 1905) and Daniel Jewell Henderson were born to Martha A. Haynes. According to the 1910 census, Dan and Emma had 7 children born to them, with only 3 living.

Launderdale County Enterprise - April 21, 1905

Mr. Dan Henderson met with an unfortunate accident Monday afternoon at his home 4 miles north of Ripley which cost him his life. He was felling a tree and was struck on the head by a falling limb. He died in about 40 minutes. He is survived by his wife and four children. He was buried Tuesday afternoon at Grace Cemetery. He was about 40 years old.

Dr. Orr and wife, Mr. Alexander Henderson and Mrs. Alice Cooley of Metropolis, ILL.; Mrs Casey Roberts, Mrs. Ashby and Mr. Abe Henderson of Paducah were called to Ripley Tuesday by the death of their brother, Mr. Dan Henderson.
