He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. James was a mason, having developed sub-divisions with his brother. He also owned and operated a "You Pick Farmers Market" in Whitestown from his passion for farming.
James is survived by his son, Jeffrey A. (Debbie) Scott of Avon; his daughter, Gina S. Scott of Westfield and grandchildren, Taylor Scott and Eric Scott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patty L. (Cline) Scott, whom he married on November 7, 1959 in Indianapolis; sister, Irene Beasley and brothers, Charles, Kenny, Robert and Clyde Scott.
Visitation will be November 21, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, where funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon November 21, 2016. Burial with military honors will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
