Davenport, IA Funeral services for Paul J. “Whitey” Hueser, 94, of Davenport will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Davenport. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors being provided by Davenport American Legion Post #26. The family will greet friends on Tuesday from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the church. Mr. Hueser died on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Paul Joseph Hueser was born on July 28, 1922 in Davenport, IA, the son of Stephan and Threasa (Boeckman) Hueser. After graduation from Davenport High School he married Dorothy H. Holling on April 2, 1945 with whom he recently celebrated 71 years of happy marriage. He was a charter member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Davenport and as a “Winter Texan” attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission, TX. During WWII he served in the United States Navy as an aviation machinist. Following his military obligations, he began his career as a sheet metal worker at the Schebler Company where he was employed for 38 years retiring in 1982.

Mr. Hueser and his wife were charter members and very active with the Holiday Ramblers RV Club and also the Good Samaritan Camping Club. Throughout their years of travel and attending national conventions, they have camped in all of the 50 states with the exception of HI. Paul was also a member of CASI and the QC Times Plus 60 Club, Sheet Metal Workers Local #91, the Sheet Metal Retirees Club, the Davenport Knights of Columbus, and the Rock Island Conservation Club. He enjoyed stained glass, wood working and in general was a “Mr. Fix It”. He always took pride in that he completely built their home with his own two hands. He loved to play Cribbage weekly at CASI and also the Friendly House, and was proud to have been a member of the Quad Cities Honor Flight. Every day at 4:00 pm he celebrated each day with his wife, a glass of Crown Royale, and his favorite, chili cheese Fritos.

Mr. Hueser is survived by – a Daughter: Patricia (David) Campbell of Davenport; 2 Sons: Gerald (Jackie) Hueser of Mission, TX, and Daniel (Joyce) Hueser of Marquette Heights, IL; 6 Grandchildren; 6 Great-grandchildren; and a Great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by - his Parents; his Wife; a Son: Paul; 4 Sisters: Katherene, Jean, Joan, and Rita; 5 Brothers: Arnold, Hubert, Richard, Joseph, and Walter; and 2 Grandsons: William, and Todd in August of this year.

The family asks that those folks wishing to attend the funeral please come in casual dress (Jeans) and also would like to specifically thank the wonderful staff at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House for his wonderful and loving care.
