Samuel Minns, Jr., son of Samuel and Elizabeth Minns, was born 27 October 1825 and baptised 9 April 1826 by the Rev. William Hepworth, Rector of Christ Church parish and officiating minister of St. Matthew's.

Samuel served on the islands of Long Island, Rum Cay and Exuma 1849-1863. He then served on Eleuthera 1864-1867. Licensed as a Missionary and Officiating Curate at Exuma by Aubrey Spencer in November 1848.

He was made a Deacon in November 1848 by Aubrey Spencer at St. Andrew's Church, Jamaica. He was ordained Priest by Bishop Courtenay (Bishop of Kingston) at Christ Church (Nassau) on Sunday, 25 July 1857.

from the Bishop's Address of 1873:
"Feb. 7. I attended the funeral service of the Rev. Samuel Minns, colored Priest, of the English church, from the Diocese of Nassau. Mr. Minns had been for some time resident in Savannah, engaged in teaching and giving services to the Parish of St. Stephen’s. He was buried from that church. I was assisted in this service by Rev. Mr. Stanley, of Savannah; and by a clergyman of Florida."

He was followed at that parish by the Rev. Joseph S. Atwell.

"Rev, Samuel Minns, Jr. relocated to Savannah, Georgia, USA, where his ministry was terminated by a premature death. Left to mourn were his wife and a large family of small children."
