C. B. Buckner, 81, a former resident of Cocke County, born November 19, 1917; died July 26 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Andrew and Callie Harper Buckner; stepmother, Leathe Gregg Buckner; and brothers, Leottus, Jess, Earl, Clifford and Dan Buckner.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marie Crumb Buckner; daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia Kay and Carelton Riggs, Middlebourne, WV and Terrie Beth and Reverend Jerry Reese, Bybee; brothers, Ray and Algoma Buckner, White Pine and J. L. and Lawanda Buckner, Newport; sister-in-law, Mildred Buckner, Bybee; grandchildren, Lynn and Blainie Brackins, C. C. and Lyell Riggs, Alf Riggs, Melinda and Mike George and Alicia Reese; great-grandchild, Dylan George; many nieces and nephews; and a life-long friend, Ernest Price of Newport.

A graveside service will be held at Union Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. September 16, with Reverend Jerry Reese officiating.
