"Mrs. Carrie Polson Clay, wife of Rufus Clay, died at her home near Bennettsville early this afternoon following a prolonged illness. The daughter of Henry and Dora Moore Polson, she was a lifelong resident Marlboro County.
Besides her husband, he [sic] is survived by six children, Louise Clay of the home and Mrs. Annie Clay Mumford, Mrs. Bell Clay Mumford, Mrs. Nell Clay Britt, Preston Clay and Mrs. Gertie C. Crowley, all of Marlboro county, and four brothers, A. B., J. S., Leon and Henry Polson, all of Marlboro County.
Funeral services will be conducted from Shiloh Methodist Church at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Interment will follow in the church cemetery."
