IN SELF DEFENSE
John Brosnahan was acquitted Monday of the murder of his father, Timothy Brosnahan, by Justice Ross, in Kansas City, the case against young Brosnahan being dismissed on the evidence presented by the prosecution.
At 7:30 o'clock on the night of April 3, John Brosnahan and his father had a quarrel at their home 1423 West Twenty-ninth street in Kansas City. The elder Brosnahan was clearing the snow off a walk in the back yard at the time he had a mattox in his hand. He started for his son, and the latter drew a revolver and fired, the shot taking direct in the elder Brosnahan's stomach. Timothy Brosnahan lived until the next day, but his wound proved fatal and the body was brought to Sedalia for burial. - Sedalia Weekly Democrat - Friday, April 14, 1899 pg.9
