Julia Kiser Butner COLUMBIA - Julia Kiser Butner, 95, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home Saturday, November 5, 2016. Julia was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Thelbert. Surviving are her daughters Brenda (Jerry) McLain of West Columbia, Janet Butner Stokes of Lexington and a son Tim Butner of Gaston. She was the proud grandmother of Trey (Kim) Plowden of Chapin and Jennifer (Steven) Boatwright of Lexington. She leaves behind five great grandchildren Spencer, Grayson and Emma Plowden and Olivia and John Boatwright. Julia was the last surviving child of Timothy and Augusta Kiser of Tobaccoville, NC. She was born in Winston Salem and moved to Columbia with her husband in 1947. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, home maker and child care provider to her grandchildren Trey and Jennifer. While camping was one of her favorite things to do, Julia also worked part time during registration at USC. She was a member of Shandon United Methodist Church for 69 years where she taught Sunday school for many years. The family wishes to give thanks to the Amedisys Hospice Care family with special heartfelt gratitude to Troy, Paula, Jackie and Rob. The family will always be indebted for their loving care and kindnesses. Chaplain Rob Cely will be officiating the celebration of life service to be held at Moseley Funeral Service, 914 Meeting Street, West Columbia on Wednesday November 9th at 1:00. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from Noon to 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Columbia.
