Brenda Lay, 71, of Corbin, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016, at Baptist Health Lexington.

Born in Corbin, she was the daughter of the late Joe Oaks and Amanda Powers Oaks. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Layton Lay; and her siblings Elsie Cummins, Hoover Oaks, Wilma Mitchell, Billy Oaks, Tommy Oaks, and Phyllis Goins Grant.

Brenda had worked as office manager for Dr. John Jones and was a member of West Corbin Baptist Church. She played cards with "The Ladies", enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and reading and playing games on her Kindle.

She is survived by her son Steven Lay of Corbin; daughter Angie Campbell and husband Tom of Danville; four grandchildren Lance Lay and Chaise Lay of Corbin, and Dustin Campbell and Drew Campbell of Danville; three great-grandchildren Kayla Lay of Corbin and Ethan Campbell and Brooklynn Campbell of Danville; sister Helen Bennett of Corbin; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Brenda Lay will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 10, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers.
