Nita Jo Burkhart, 70, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2010, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Memorial services, under the direction of her family, will be held at The Dickson First Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 28, 2010, with Brother John Hatfield officiating.
Nita was born on May 16, 1940, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to the late Mr. James "Jim" Oscar Russell and Mrs. Edith Violet (Geurin) Russell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Buck "S.B." Burkhart; her parents; and two brothers, Donald and Jerry Russell.
Nita graduated from Dickson High School in 1958, worked for Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator and for the Department of Mental Health for many years. She retired from Dickson Schools where she had been a custodian. Nita loved spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Nita is survived by four siblings, Jimmie Carstarphen, Rhonda McMillian, Danny Russell, and Eddy Russell all of Dickson; great-niece, Destney Russell; and great-nephew, Denver Russell both of Dickson.
