He was born on September 2, 1927 to Frank and Nellie (Auen) Leitz in Wall Lake, IA.

LeRoy attended school in Wall Lake, graduating with the class of 1945, and was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View. LeRoy was united in marriage to Joan McClintock for many years and they were blessed with five children: Sharon, Barb, Michael, Teresa, and Pam.

LeRoy was a proud Veteran and served in the Army during WWII. LeRoy owned Leitz Tiling and worked closely with his brother James, who was also his best friend.

LeRoy loved to travel, Las Vegas being a favorite place to go. He enjoyed fishing, attending his grandchildrens activities and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes in action. He volunteered many hours of his time and received an award from Governor Branstad for “Volunteer of the Year” at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View, IA.

LeRoy is survived by his three daughters: Barb (James) Smith, Teresa (John) Drilling, and Pam Leitz all of Lake View, IA; brother James (Phyllis) Leitz of Lake View, IA; six grandchildren: Matt (Tiffani) Smith, Alecia Dougherty, Tiffany (Jason) McCabe, Joshua (Crystal) Drilling, Seth Peters (Jayla Clark), and Maddigan Leitz; grandson-in-law Tim Millard; thirteen great-grandchildren: Dante Brown, Ariana Smith, Braedan Dougherty; Quintyn, Warren, and Eviana Smith; Jace and Kinsley Drilling; Livia and Bella McCabe; Chairity, Michael, and Hope Milliard; and many extended friends and family members.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Nellie Leitz; children: Sharon Staton-Peters, and Michael Leitz; grandchildren: Robbie Staton and Erica Auen-Millard; brothers: Donald Leitz and Kenneth Leitz; sisters: Joan Robinson, Dorothy Frisbie, Katherine Meister and Maxine Fanning.
