Obituary:

We cannot always tell when the most vivid lightning and startling thunder are to come. Some of our saddest experiences come without premonition. Yesterday, life was, hope was in the ascendent; it was easy to be content. Today all is opposite. Voices which were happy have become unutterably sad. Despair sits at the hearthstone, because a heart has become mute and motionless forever. The pen which is called upon to tell the story of death has assigned to it a sad and painful task. Death steps in and takes away one of ours who was apparently in the glow of health, the pain of it overwhelms us and we feel ourselves clutched in the arms of despair.

Clara Gwendolyn Petersen, who was born near Lyle, Minnesota, Mitchell County on November 1, 1906 was the daughter of Christian and Gunda Petersen.

She died Friday afternoon, July 5, 1935 and at the time of her death was twenty-eight years, eight months and four days old. The deceased was the youngest of four children. Her infant son preceded her in death on July 4 of this year, and her father on April 6, 1929.

She was baptized at the Six Mile Grove Church by Rev. N. N. Esser, and confirmed at Little Cedar Congregation by Rev. Brenna. She has been a faithful member of the congregation.

The deceased was graduated from the Adams High School as Valedictorian in 1925 and completed a rural course at the Winona State Teacher's College. She was a successful teacher in Mower County schools for seven terms, during which time she won the love of many people.

On November 18, 1933 she was united in marriage to Ernest Boe at the Little Brown Church at Nashua by Rev. Kent.

Although during her recent suffering she was given the very best of care that human hands could do, it was of no avail. She was called to her reward by her Maker. She possessed a good, kind personality, and everyone who was fortunate enough to know her learned to love her.

She will be greatly missed in the community, and especially in her home where she proved a devoted wife.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband, mother, two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Hofland of Austin and Mrs. Arthur Johnson of Adams, also one brother, Carl also of Adams, besides a large number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held from the Little Cedar Lutheran Church Monday afternoon. Rev. Alfred Breivik officiated. Mesdames Louis Slindee and Lloyd Uglum sang two very appropriate duets.

The pallbearers were Messers. Meril Anderson, Arnold Anderson, Ervin Boe, Henry Halvorson, Schner Weness, and Earl Amble.

Interment was made in the Little Cedar Cemetery.
