Raymond P. Sides, 89, of Jackson died Nov. 21, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born March 12, 1913, at Neelys Landing, son of Arthur and Nellie Abernathy Sides.
He and Onis Clingingsmith were married May 5, 1934. She died Dec. 18, 1981.
He and Clara (Jackson) Acup were married Jan. 6, 1983.
Mr. Sides farmed many years, retired from the former LaPier and Sawyer Handle Factory, then worked several years at Delmonico's.
He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church near Pocahontas, and had been a preschool Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Richard and Don Sides of Jackson, MO; Jerry Sides of Kirksey, KY; five daughters, Zelma Robison and Joyce Newell of Oak Ridge, MO; Jo Ann Finchum, Pat Craft and Shirley Kester of Jackson, MO; and a step-daughter, Delores Saunders of Hamburg, IL.
Also surviving are three brothers, Esco Sides of Pacific, MO; Elmer Sides of Las Vegas, NV; Arnold Sides of Blue Mounds, IL; a sister, Erma Owens of Jackson, MO; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and a great-step-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother, two grandchildren, and two great-grandsons.
The funeral is Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. The Revs. Johnny Clements and John Rhodes will officiate. Burial in New Bethel Cemetery.

Beloved husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa, Richard P. Sides, 82, of Jackson, passed away Monday, April 6, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Richard's family will announce a memorial service at a later date. At this time, they will honor him with a private funeral at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center. He will be laid to rest near other family members at New Bethel Cemetery near Pocahontas. Rev. Don Estes will officiate. Memorials may take the form of contributions to New Bethel Cemetery or Shawnee Hills Baptist Church.
Richard was born April 13, 1937, at Neelys Landing, Missouri, to Raymond and Onis Clingingsmith Sides. He and LaDora Bishop were married June 28, 1958, at New Bethel Baptist Church near Pocahontas.
Richard attended Jackson High School. Thereafter, he served honorably in the Missouri National Guard. On March 14, 1956, he enlisted in the U.S. Marines. He was honorably discharged as a corporal on March 13, 1958.
Richard worked over 45 years as a self-employed bricklayer, often subcontracting with Bob Morton. He and LaDora bowled many years in the couple’s league at Jackson Lanes.
Richard and LaDora were longtime members of New Bethel Baptist Church, also the church where Richard was saved and baptized, became an ordained deacon, and served as church treasurer and usher. Richard and LaDora later joined Shawnee Hills Baptist Church in Jackson. At Shawnee Hills, Richard continued to serve as a deacon and usher, and served on the property committee and the kitchen committee.
Since retirement, Richard like to tinker with his lawn mowers and occasionally, he and LaDora would take brief get-aways and go to flea market sales. His greatest joy was spending time with his great-grandchildren. He loved to play and wrestle around with them.
Loving survivors include his wife of nearly 62 years, LaDora Sides; a son, Mark Sides of Jackson; a daughter Leisa (Jack) Floyd, all of Jackson; six grandchildren: Jeremy Sides;, Jordan (Ashley) Sides; Sierra (Jesse) Plumley; Erica (Jake) Haff; Aaron (Kirsten) Floyd; and Hannah (Roger) Beasley; and 12 great grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Don (June) Sides and Jerry (Linda) Sides; four sisters, Zelma Robison, Pat (Wilson) Craft, Shirley Kester and Joyce (Randy) Newell; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Nathan Floyd and Joshua David Sides; and a sister, JoAnn Finchum.
