Clifton Ray Bowser, age 94, of Erie, PA, formerly of Smicksburg, PA passed away Saturday November 5, 2016 at St. Vincent Health Center.

He was born in Indiana County, PA on July 20, 1922, a son of the late Harvey and Ora Shaffer Bowser.

Clifton graduated from Dayton High School. He worked on the family farm until the age of 27 and had been a member of the Future Farmers of America. Clifton retired from Lord Corporation after 35 years as the manager of the customer service department.

He enjoyed fishing for perch on Lake Erie with his son Jim, nephew Paul, and friends Joe and Bill Cooney. He and his brothers had a cabin in Potter County, which was built in 1935 by the Bowser brothers along with niece Donna Bowser Meyers of Indiana , PA. Ray and Laird enjoyed snowmobiling and hiking with family, including nephew, Sid Himes. Clifton was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church for 67 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Laird, Clair and John Bowser; a sister, Lucile Coleman; and his former wife and mother of his children, Helen Louise Bowser.

He is survived by his son, James Bowser of Wellington FL, daughters, Karen Bowser Schenley of Merritt Island, FL and Diana Bowser Blandi of Erie, PA; a sister, Lesta Adams of Ft. Worth, TX.

Friends may call on the family on Saturday November 12th at Kingsley United Methodist Church, 913 Cranberry St. Erie, PA 16502 from 9:30 a.m until the time of the celebration service at 11 a.m with Rev. Harold Blair officiating.

Burial at Smicksburg Lutheran Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Burton Funeral Home, 3801 W. 26th St. (at Powell Ave.), Erie.
