Obituary:

JAMES E. WILLER, II, 26, July 15. Memorial 11 a.m., Friday, St. Peter's Catholic Church. Arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home.

We lost James to a skydiving accident. He was loved by all and is sorely missed.

I remember a skydive I did with James. When we broke off from our dive to deploy our parachutes, I had a malfunction and could not get my parachute out. I knew I was getting low and, as I pulled my reserve, I looked up and saw James in a head down position headed straight for me. My reserve canopy deployed and I got down to the ground safe and sound, albeit very quickly. Once James got to the ground, I berated him for coming after me because I knew we were both low. I told him, "Better for one person to go in (skydiving term for smacking the ground) rather than two!" He looked me straight in the eyes and said very seriously,

"Shannon...we're all skydivers and we have a special bond. If you were going down, I was going to do everything I could to help you - even if it meant me going with you.......You would have done the same for me."

He was such a selfless person. It brings tears to my eyes just writing about it.

He has no grave to visit, as he was cremated. Find A Grave has provided the perfect arena to "spend time" with those you miss. Thank you!
