Alvin Max Watkins, 85, of North Little Rock, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at home. He was born on May 28, 1931 to Joseph Wesley and Jettieve London Watkins in Trumann, AR. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lynn Watkins, his sister, Joan Watkins Hughes, and his parents.

He is survived by one son, Max Thompson Watkins and wife Tracy of Marshall, TX; one daughter, Susan Watkins Gertson and husband Rodney of Edmond, OK; grandsons Wesley Watkins, Jesse Watkins, Daniel and Kimberly Gertson, Micah and Jannat Gertson, and Nathan and Claire Gertson; great-grandchildren Addison Watkins, Jonah and Alex Gertson, and Graham Gertson; sister-in-law Joyce Thompson Isaacs of Jackson, MS and numerous nieces and nephews.

Max served in the US Army during the Korean War. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hendrix College in 1952. Afterwards, he began his lifelong career with the Olin Chemical Corporation. He loved to sing and was a 30-year member of Acapella Rising (formerly Diamond State) Barbershop Chorus. Max was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church, Jacksonville, AR., serving on the finance committee, singing in the choir, and supporting many church ministries.

The family would like to express their tremendous appreciation for his wonderful caregivers, Evelyn Finley, Elizabeth Cantrell, Jackie Edmondson, Karen Morris and his care team from Baptist Health Hospice: Gail Felling, Tina Parker, Mary Hicks, Judy Bury, and Jim Agee.
