Mr. Ables was a native of Lincoln County, the son of the late R.A. and Virge Locker Ables. He was a farmer and also worked for RC Cola, was an Army veteran and a member of the Mimosa Church of Christ. Mr. Ables was a beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather. He lived for his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Maurine Roland Ables of Fayetteville, TN, children Jerry Wayne (Sandra) Smith, Jean (Jim) Smith Colbert all of Fayetteville, TN, Joan Smith Rogers of Thompson Station, TN, grandchildren Nicole (Danny) Treola, Kris (Kelly) Smith, Jay (Jessica) Colbert, Mary Beth Colbert, Trey Rogers, great grandchildren Caragan Treola, Chace Treola, Lane Smith, Daisy Smith, Charlie Grace Colbert, sisters Ernestine Wilson, Faye Pylant, Kathleen Smith, Dixie Offett, brothers Bruce Ables, Lex Ables and several neices and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Ruth Douglas and brother Charles Ray Ables.
Visitation with the family will be Friday, November 4, 2016 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.
