Mrs. Emma Baker, 61, Gold Star Mother of the late Thomas Baker, World War II Congressional Medal of Honor winner, died yesterday morning at Leonard Hospital after a short illness.
Prominent in the affairs of the O'Brien-Baker Auxiliary, 27th Division Assn., Mrs. Baker had a personal interest in the post that was named for her son who, was killed during the Saipan campaign and with the late Col. William J. O'Brien, was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously.
A native of Saratoga Springs, Mrs. Baker lived most of her life in Troy, residing at 783 River St. at the time of her death. She was a member of the Oakwood Avenue Presbyterian Church.
Wife of the late Thomas Baker Sr., Mrs. Baker is survived by one son, Joseph E.(sic) Baker of Troy; one daughter, Mrs. Harold Harrington Sr. of West Sand Lake; three granddaughters, Mrs. Ronald King, Mrs. Raymond Ramella and Miss Mary Baker, all of Troy, and two grandsons, Harold C. Harrington Jr. and Brian Baker, both of Troy.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. from the Fonda Funeral Home, 837 River St. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, West Sand Lake.
