Marian W. Davis, 92, died Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Barclay Friends. She was the wife of the late Harry I. Davis, who died in 1995.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Paul G. and Marian Pike Watson. She lived in the West Chester area for most of her life.
She graduated from West Chester High School in 1942, West Chester State Teachers College in 1946, where she also earned a Master’s degree in music education in 1968. From 1963 to 1989 she was an elementary school music teacher and an organist at First Presbyterian Church from 1951 to 1976.
Her former community involvement included: SPCA of Chester County as a board member, West Chester Area Senior Center serving on the Planning Council, AARP – West Chester Chapter #1520 as a former president, Aero Club of Chester County as secretary / treasurer, and a “Silver Wings” member.
She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Eastern Star, Chapter 352 of West Chester, New Century Club, past patroness of S.A.I. Music Fraternity and a volunteer with the Red Cross Blood Mobiles.
Marian is survived by a daughter, Carol Ann Gray and her husband, Alan of Perkasie; her son, Richard A. Davis and his wife, Jana of West Chester and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church, 130 W. Miner Street, West Chester, PA 19382, where friends may call from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service.
Interment will be in Green Mount Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Brandywine Valley SPCA, 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380; or to the First Presbyterian Church at the above mentioned address. Arrangements are being handled by the Founds Funeral Home, Inc., West Chester, 610-696-0134.
